Galaxy S26 FE

Review

The Galaxy S26 FE is best evaluated as an incremental replacement for the S25 FE rather than a smaller version of the flagship S26. The familiar formula remains comfortable, but buyers expecting a substantial generational redesign will find little evidence of one.

The display continues to be one of the FE’s strongest assets. Its 6.7-inch OLED panel runs at 120Hz and provides the expansive viewing area expected from this segment. However, it does not match the S26 Plus for resolution or overall flagship hardware sophistication. For ordinary browsing, streaming, and gaming, that distinction is relatively difficult to notice, but users comparing specifications directly will see the FE’s deliberate positioning.

Performance receives the most meaningful internal upgrade. Exynos 2500 replaces the S25 FE’s Exynos 2400, giving the S26 FE a newer generation processor for everyday applications, graphics workloads, and AI processing. In practical terms, the newer chip makes the phone better aligned with Samsung’s latest software environment. Nevertheless, the 8GB RAM ceiling is unchanged, and that limitation becomes more relevant when the device is compared with higher-end S26 models offering stronger memory configurations and faster overall hardware.

Samsung’s software strategy is therefore particularly important. My FanCam brings AI-assisted subject tracking to video, Audio Eraser can reduce unwanted sound in supported experiences, and improved Horizontal Lock helps stabilize orientation during moving recordings. Now Brief and Now Nudge add contextual information and suggestions. These functions are useful demonstrations of Samsung’s current AI direction, but they are not exclusive hardware breakthroughs; many already appeared on earlier 2026 Galaxy flagships. Their value consequently depends on whether the owner actively uses Samsung’s ecosystem.

Photography remains another area where the FE shows its boundaries. The triple-camera system is retained instead of adopting the more sophisticated hardware found higher in the S26 range. One specific change that's worthwhile noting to its advantage is that the wider 12MP selfie camera has changed its field of view to 85 degrees, up from 80 degrees in the S25 FE. But if you are looking for some flagship zoom, or even high end ultrawide, or the ultimate in computational photography versatility, you should go up the line.

The behavior of batteries is relatively simple. It's a 4,900mAh battery which hasn't been changed, but the 45W wired charging remains useful. The hardware balance favors endurance over extreme charging speeds, and there is no dramatic capacity increase over the previous generation. Wireless charging is supported, although its 15W rate trails the fastest options available elsewhere in Samsung’s premium range.

The S26 FE therefore makes the strongest case for buyers who specifically want a large Samsung AMOLED display, long-term software support, modern Galaxy AI features, and a lower entry price, while accepting reduced RAM, simpler cameras, and a less advanced display.
